The Second Generation Ford Escape Hybrid recives some styling inside and out.The major cosmetic changes include a new bumpers,grill,headlights and taillights to match fords new edge style.But the drivetrain is esentialy the same mechanically but has had extensive software modifications.  It has two specification levels Base and Limited, the Limited adds a chrome front grill and Ford Sync

Model Year Updates

MY09 models added new drivetrains across the range and both four and six cylinder engines received updates.The old four speed automatic transmission was replaced by a new six speed automatic. Also a new braking system plus traction and stability control.

Ford Escape Hybrid Sales

By the end of 2009 Ford sold 107,201 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner hybrids in the United States. It is the fourth result after Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid

Purchasers of 2008 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner hybrids qualify for US income tax credits between $2,200-3,000.
